Sew Explicit

Yay! Here we are with new sewing patterns. It has been over two years since I last released any sewing patterns and posted on this blog  I am not the most consistent but I finally made it here with Iris, Jasmine and Marigold. These three EasyMake patterns are being released together because they make up some sort of collection as they are designed to use similar fabrics and the pieces can be mixed, matched and styled in multiple combinations, even a couple of pattern pieces across Iris and Jasmine, with minor tweaks, can be interchanged to create new looks.  These sewing patterns have been in the works for a while now, with the earliest toiles/samples made about 2 years ago. In this post, I will be sharing more from pictures of toiled to the fabric types that I have used and suggested and pictures from testers whose suggestions have helped me improve the patterns.

The Eva sewing pattern is finally here! and I am going to tell you all about it and of course share all the pictures from the lovely women who helped me test the pattern. The Eva dress sewing pattern is my first pattern after almost 5 years and it is packed with so many features, Below is a list of what you get in this pattern: Large size range 4-32 to fit women with full bust 30 to 61" (76-155cm) split into two overlapping size bands. Multiple cup sizes, B,C, D and E for all sizes 3 style variations with possibilities for even more. Illustrated sewing instructions with suggested cutting layouts and info on how to blend across sizes. Trim A4/Letter tiles to print at home No Trim A4/Letter tiles to print at home and skip the trimming A0 PDF that you can print at copy shops 2 projector cutting files, one for light backgrounds; and the other for dark backgrounds so you can clearly see the pattern when cutting on dark coloured fabrics.

 Is the bust fitting and back shoulder fitting darts (as shown on Diagram A ) always necessary? A number of pattern drafting methods have you draft the bodice block with a bust fitting dart in front and sometimes a short shoulder fitting dart at the back. The bust fitting dart may be positioned during drafting at the corner of the shoulder (Natalie Bray); At the corner of the Neck (Aldrich) or at the waist (Armstrong).  It is not all the time that a garment require a bust fitting dart. Instead of transferring the dart elsewhere where it would create unwanted fullness, why not start with a block that has eliminated that step (of transferring fullness) yet remains fitted?

Hello. So I said in a post last week , that this month of July will see a number of new pattern releases for your sewing pleasure. I also previewed one of the new patterns. Yes the Bailey Bolero Jacket is here. Bailey is a bolero jacket with high roll shawl collar that is convertible to a revers jacket if lined with shell fabric. This classic jacket will instantly up-level any outfit you throw it on. This jacket, you may have guessed, is inspired by the Ralph Lauren outfit Melania Trump wore at the presidential inauguration. Most notable difference is that I opted for  set in sleeves instead of  raglan.

Yay! the Aria top is the SewExplicit Patterns latest sewing pattern. The Aria top features an underarm cowl and a basic round neck finished with a neckband. This laid back style can be worn casually on a pair of jeans or lengthened to make a sassy short party dress. The Aria pattern is an easy make, quick sewing and it is suitable for beginners. Hello. How are you doing? So in today's post I will be showing what volunteer testers have made out of our patterns. A pattern tester helps to check the fit of a pattern and quality of the instruction set before we finally release.

The Ekinni dress is so me. My kind of dress- easy to wear, slip on, no zip, no buttons, elasticated waist line so I can eat well and not feel constrained (lol), can be dressed up or dressed down for different moods/looks/occasion. I hope you like it too. It is the very first sewing pattern I designed, hence the name "Ekinni" which means "First" in the Yoruba language.

It has been a loooong time coming and finally I am here. From making  announcement about my intentions over a year ago, to conducting surveys, carrying  out pattern testing, dropping hints here on the blog. Here we are.  Watch the intro video
