Camellia Shift Dress Sewing Pattern is Here!
Finally! After quite a while, I’m here with a new pattern designed specifically for woven fabrics – the EasyMake Camellia. The last five patterns have all been for knits, so this is a refreshing change!
Camellia is a shift dress with a flattering A-line silhouette. Its standout feature is the asymmetric pleat cluster on the front right shoulder, adding a fun twist and a bit of pizazz to an otherwise simple style. It has a round, slightly wide neckline finished with a neck facing, and it closes at the back with a rouleau loop and single button — no zippers or buttonholes required.
You can make Camellia with short sleeves, long sleeves with elastic cuffs, or long sleeves without elastic. The pattern also includes a cut line so you can make it as a blouse for even more versatility.
The Camellia shift dress PDF sewing pattern is designed for light to medium-weight non-stretch woven fabrics with some drape but enough opacity to skip lining. Think satin crepe, silk charmeuse, rayon challis, linen, crepe, cotton blends, and rayon blends. The green sample shown is made from a 150gsm crepe, while the champagne-colored sample is a 120gsm satin, sewn in an earlier sleeve version that had extra ease in the sleeve crown (since refined for a better fit).
As with all SewExplicit sewing patterns, Camellia is drafted for an average height of 165–172 cm (5’5”–5’8”) and is based on a B-cup (patternmaking, not bra cup). For reference, I’m 157 cm (5’2”) with measurements of 34-36-31-39.5 inches (86.4–91.4–78.4–100.3 cm), and both samples shown are made in size 10, with the champagne version shortened by 3" in the sleeve and about 1.5" in the dress length.
Camellia is available in nine sizes, fitting busts from 32–48 inches (81–122 cm) and hips from 35–51 inches (89–130 cm). Your download includes:
