How to Print and Assemble PDF Patterns from SewExplicit Patterns PART 1

Happy new month! In today's post I will show how to print and assemble PDF patterns from SewExplicit Patterns. Note that our PDF patterns are not "how-to-draft" illustrations but life-size patterns ready to be used to cut out your fabrics. Our PDF sewing patterns are set in A4 paper (or US Letter paper)tiles so that you can easily print at home or in your office with a regular printer. After printing in tiles, you will have to assemble the A4 ( or US Letter) tiles by pasting together to form your life-size pattern.

PART ONE
Download /transfer  your PDF pattern to a computer with the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. i recommend Acrobat Reader DC which is available for free download on the internet. When downloading the files, ensure you “save” and not just “open” the files. Open and print your PDF pattern with the Adobe Acrobat Reader.
You have the option to print all sizes together or you can choose to print only one size.

PRINTING ALL SIZES
On opening the document, all sizes are visible. You can print as it is, or you can go to “LAYERS” option by clicking on the icon that looks like stacked pages  on the left of the screen. (see figure 1 below)

On clicking the “Layers” icon, you will see the pattern tiles sub-document with a plus sign bound in a square next to it. Click on the plus sign. (see figure 2)
On clicking on the plus sign, a drop down menu showing all the sizes are revealed with an“eye” next to each layer. To print all sizes, make sure that the eyes on all the sizes are visible. (See figure 3)
Then click on the printer icon on the menu bar or go to FILE   »   PRINT
( More on printing later)

 PRINTING ONE SIZE/SPECIFIC SIZES ONLY
After you have determined the size(s) you want to print using our size chart as guide, go to "Layers” by clicking on the stacked pages icon on the left of the screen. (see figures 1&2 )
Deselect the “eyes” on all layers except on the size(s) you want. (see figure 3 above)
Ready to print.

PRINTING
On the menu bar go to FILE  »  PRINT after you have chosen what size(s) to print. A dialogue box opens where you have to tick all the appropriate options. (see figure 4)
If you want to print the pattern tiles pages only and not bother with the instruction pages, click on PAGES under PAGES TO PRINT, then enter the page range i.e. 10-25.

Your printing paper must of course be set to A4 if you are printing the A4 tiles (or US Letter if you are printing the Letter tiles), this is usually by default though.
You can now hit on the PRINT button. Viola! you have successfully printed.
Next is assembling the pattern tiles you have printed which will be covered in the second part in the next post. Stay tuned.
